Harmsen, Ann

3rd Grade Teacher

My name is Ann Harmsen. I am beginning my 28th year in education. I graduated from Tarleton State University with my undergraduate degree, and from Texas Tech University with my master’s degree. I am certified to teach Pk-8th, and have taught in the kindergarten, second, and third grade classrooms.  I enjoy the rural atmosphere at Cranfills Gap. I also appreciate the small class sizes where I can get to know students well and have time to help them individually.

I believe students can best learn in an environment where they practice kindness, respect, work ethic, responsibility, good manners/attitude. Instilling these expectations in students sets the tone for a positive learning experience.

One quote that carries meaning to me is by Ralph Waldo Emerson: “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”

Educational resources: IXL math and reading, Amira reading, Generation Genius, Scholastic and TexQuest

When I am not busy with school, I enjoy gardening, drawing, taking care of animals and road trips with my husband.
